Why Your Bloating Remedies Aren’t Working
Having to constantly watch what you eat can be a real drab.
Perfectly planning each meal so you don’t have to spend the day feeling like a balloon is about to pop in your stomach at any time takes effort.
Bloating is a nuisance and can sometimes be accompanied by even more uncomfortable gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhea or constipation.
You may even be suffering from other health issues such as diabetes, obesity, or an autoimmune disease.
And most people don’t realize these conditions could be stemming from your gut.
If you suffer from debilitating bloating symptoms, diarrhea or constipation you might have heard of a condition called small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).
You might have also been given the runaround on breath test diagnostics, stool test, and multiple different types of SIBO treatments.
But are you still suffering from small intestinal bacterial overgrowth symptoms?
Perhaps, because if you house microorganisms in your small intestine such as methanogens they tend to be more resistant to your bloating remedies and traditional SIBO treatments.
And you’re probably ready to give up by this point.
But with a little knowledge of how to interrupt the growth of these methanogens, you can get rid of belly bloat, SIBO symptoms, and possibly other concerning health issues.
So What’s Really Going On in Your Gut?
A healthy gut looks like this – most of the gut bacteria live in your colon, which constantly produces gas due to fermentation of polysaccharides in carbohydrates. This gas consists of hydrogen and carbon dioxide.
Sulfate-reducing bacteria living in your colon use the hydrogen to produce hydrogen sulfide gas. While methanogens, which are archaea prokaryotes, use the hydrogen to produce methane gas through a process called methanogenesis.
When your bacteria reside in the colon these gases are usually excreted with your stool, flatulence, or absorbed into your bloodstream to be excreted through your breath. This is a normal process when you eat foods high in polysaccharides. And any of these gases can lead to bloating.
But when these bacteria or methanogens shift to your small intestine because of some “shock” to your digestive system they can cause severe bloating and other SIBO symptoms such as diarrhea or constipation.
A “shock” due to antibiotics, stress, infections, or an unhealthy diet can lead to gut dysbiosis and SIBO. This gut dysbiosis is an imbalance of good bacteria to bad bacteria and/or bacteria growing where it shouldn’t.
Interrupt This Harmful Process to Get SIBO-Constipation Relief
I’m sure you’ve reached out to every friend, every family member, and every doctor you can to get rid of your belly bloat.
They’ve suggested all the advice for bloating remedies – from probiotics, fiber, or antidepressants nothing seems to kick the bloat and other gastrointestinal symptoms.
This is because there’s no “one prescription or one diet” which can treat small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.
Although it would be way easier to deal with, SIBO is sometimes not a quick fix condition.
You can absolutely heal from SIBO, but it will take some investigating from your side to figure out what works best for your own body.
And the real kicker is these methanogens that have moved from your colon to your small intestines.
These microbes are a very unique organism and resistant to bloating remedies and traditional SIBO treatment such as rifaximin.
The methane gas produced by methanogens are linked to your SIBO-constipation symptoms.
To get SIBO-constipation relief and get rid of belly bloat you need to interrupt the methanogenesis process.
The Guilty Microbes Leading to Your SIBO-Constipation
Your SIBO symptoms depend on the following microorganisms growing in your small intestines:
- Sulfate-reducing bacteria
- Methane-producing microbes
- Or both
Around 30-50% of the healthy adult population produces methane gas from methanogens. This bug is a normal resident of the 100 trillion bacteria living in your gut.
But, if you’re a primary methane-producer in your small intestines or even your colon, it can lead to extreme bloating and constipation.
This is because of their distinct ability to act as a paralytic in your gut – slowing motility leading to SIBO-constipation symptoms.
Methanogens in the human gastrointestinal tract include:
- Methanobrevibacter smithii
- Methanospaere stadmagnae
- Methanobrevibacter oralis
These ancient microbes are known to inhabit very extreme environments such as hydrothermal vents and hot springs and able to thrive against most odds.
For this reason, methanogens are hard to kick out of your small intestines through traditional SIBO-C treatment.
Recently, methanogens were discovered in cattle intestines and producing large amounts of methane.
Researches found a way to reduce this methane gas in the agricultural world which harms the environment by interacting methanogenesis.
Get SIBO-Constipation Relief by Reducing Methanogens
To get SIBO-constipation relief and get rid of your belly bloat you must kick out these unwanted bacteria. It’s not just about starving off these microbes through diet to find relief but actually interrupting the methanogenesis process of this archaea species.
Atrantil’s does just that – breaks the cycle of methanogenesis with the following natural ingredients:
- Peppermint leaf – Helps calm the area and slows the spasms to allow the other 2 ingredients to work.
- Quebracho – Disrupts methanogenesis by soaking up hydrogen gas, which is the precursor to methane gas production. It also disrupts the cell wall of the archaea lending it’s flavanoid properties to weaken these resistant microbes.
- Horse Chestnut – The final blow to these archaea comes in the form of horse chestnut, another powerful polyphenol. Shutting down methanogenesis, this natural ingredient inhibits the enzyme which allows for methane to be produced and reducing these methane-producing archaea. Secondly, horse chestnut has bactericidal properties to target the hydrogen producing bacteria as well.
Atrantil rebalances your gut bacteria and helps heal gut dysbiosis.
Gut dysbiosis not only leads to uncomfortable gastrointestinal issues but other health concerns such as autoimmune diseases.
Gut health is a reflection of your overall health and Atrantil can help you get your strengthen your healthy gut bacteria with its prebiotic effects.
So, do you have to continue to do this forever to hold down symptoms?
What if dysbiosis of the large intestine is involved? How do you treat the small intestine without affecting the large one? This is a connected system: everything that goes in the mouth works on everything downstream of that, whether it is helpful or not. If we have the wrong mix in the microbiome, because of antibiotics, don’t we need to introduce the missing ones? This is where I think science just does not have an answer. Just don’t know enough.
Hi Lou,
Thank you for your interest in Atrantil! Atrantil takes care of the root problem, the bacteria in the small intestine. However, we do recommend a maintenance dose of 2-3 capsules every morning once symptoms have subsided. This is to ensure the bacterial overgrowth does not come back and to support and protect the overall digestive system.
Atrantil is not an antibiotic. Atrantil is a blend of natural polyphenols. It has a very specific mechanism of action the works to target the bacteria and archaebacteria in the small intestine. Atrantil is made up of polyphenols that are macromolecules which are not absorbed. Therefore, once they have worked in the small intestine, they travel down into the colon.
In the colon these macromolecules are used as prebiotics and cleaved by the bacteria in the colon into beneficial postbiotics that are then used by the body for a variety of beneficial functions. Atrantil is backed by science and clinical trials. To learn more about how Atrantil works, please check out our website and check out Dr. Brown’s videos.

I have been on Atrantil for a week. After 5 days of taking it I started craving carbs like pasta which is very not typical of me. The symptoms of low grade fever, aches and pains, bloating and brain fog and feeling generally unwell returned too, with the exception of constipation. I’m feeling generally horrible and finding it hard to resist carbs. Is this normal?
Hi Noel,
Thank you for contacting us. We are sorry you are not feeling well. A small percentage of people may experience temporary, cold/flu like symptoms such as; muscle ache/fatigue, runny nose, stomach ache/cramps, fatigue, nausea, etc. OR increased digestive symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, or bloating after taking Atrantil.
This is generally not a reaction to Atrantil, but a reaction to the Archaeabacteria dying off and releasing endotoxins that behave as a mild irritant. Die-off should be seen as a positive sign, indicating that Atrantil is working, you have is the correct diagnosis, it will end soon and run its course, and that you are close to relief from your issues!
In most cases of Die-Off, taking one Aspirin or Ibuprofen will bring relief from these symptoms. Please let us know if you have any further questions. We are always happy to help!
Sincerely,
Team Atrantil
A new gastro doctor I just saw recommended your product. (I was diagnosed with sibo a couple years ago and it was never properly treated.)
I’m curious what manner of diet you guys recommend and am having trouble getting to that information via a Google search.
Eating vegetables brings on symptoms (gas, bloat, etc.) a lot. And a recent, unhealthy I know, return to eating sugar and gluten has actually helped reduce a lot of my gut bloating and painful symptoms.
What’s a girl to do?
Hi Renee,
Thank you for contacting us. We are sorry you have not been feeling well. For best results, we recommend sticking to a low carb diet when taking Atrantil, until you have seen relief from your symptoms.
Once you have had relief, you can slowly add back in the carbs. It may take a little while (up to 30 days) to see results, until Atrantil has had a chance to work, but over time you should be able to eat the foods you love again.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance,
Thank you and best wishes,
Team Atrantil
What , if any , supplements should you avoid while on Atrantil . How long does it take before one sees a positive reaction to Atrantil , and how do you know it’s not just from a low carb diet ? How “ low” is your recommendation re low carbs?
Hi CM,
Thank you for your interest in Atrantil! There are no known interactions between Atrantil and other supplements. As for the low carb diet, we do not have a specific daily carb intake that we recommend. Since the bacteria feed off the starches we eat, we want to limit the fuel the bacteria are getting.
That being said, you can be as stringent as you would like to be. However, we know that it can be hard to cut out gluten/carbs, so we suggest limiting the amount of bread, pasta, etc. We do not expect you to cut out ALL carbs. However, if you would like a more detailed plan, we recommend seeing a nutritionist or dietitian.
Atrantil works to get rid of the root problem- the bacteria in the small intestine. The low carb diet only focuses on the symptoms and reduces the fuel for the bacteria and thereby limits the amount of gases given off, but does not get rid of the root of the problem. Because Atrantil actually targets the bacteria, once Atrantil has had a chance to work and your symptoms have been resolved, you can slowly add back in the carbs and once again enjoy the foods you love!
The time it takes to see results on Atrantil varies by the individual. It really depends on your body and the amount of bacterial overgrowth you have. When taking Atrantil consistently at a dose of 2 capsules 3 times per day, most people start to see results within 7-10 days, however, it can take up to 30 days for some people.
We hope this helps to answer your questions. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
Thank you and best wishes,
Team Atrantil
This article specifically talks about methanogens and constipation, though it says, “when these bacteria or methanogens shift to your small intestine because of some “shock” to your digestive system they can cause severe bloating and other SIBO symptoms such as diarrhea or constipation.” Does the advice to use Atrantil regarding methanogens and constipation also relate to those of us with diarrhea from hydrogen sulfide producing bacteria?
Hi Margery,
Great question!
Yes, Atrantil targets both the archaebacteria that produce methane as well as those that produce hydrogen sulfide. Also, Atrantil’s mechanism of action uses up the hydrogen, so there is less hydrogen to be made into both methane and hydrogen sulfide. We hope this helps to clarify.
Thank you and best wishes,
Team Atrantil
How long can I expect my “die-off” phase to last. I’ve experienced terrible bloating (non-stop) and abdominal tightness ever since starting Antrantil one week ago. I’m willing to stick to it if I there’s hope of healing my gut!
Hi Elizabeth,
Thank you for your question. Die-off is different for everyone. Some people never have die-off and those that do, it may last a couple of days or a couple of weeks.
In most cases of Die-Off, taking one dose of Aspirin or Ibuprofen will bring relief from these symptoms.
However, if you feel as if you have a sensitivity to one of the ingredients, we recommend stopping Atrantil and talking to your health care professional if symptoms persist or worsen and also taking advantage of our money back guarantee.
We hope this helps. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
Sincerely,
Team Atrantil

Can you tell me if taking Atrantil would be advised to take if I am on a Keto diet. My stomach troubles have increased tremendously after 10 days on the Keto diet, however I am not hungry all the time like I was. Thank you
Hi Margaret,
Thank you for your interest in Atrantil! Yes, we have many customers who take Atrantil while on the Keto diet.
If you have bloating and abdominal discomfort with/without diarrhea, bloating or both, then Atrantil is likely a solution for you!
Thank you and best wishes,
Team Atrantil
When on a Keto Diet with intermittent fasting (usually 1 meal a day) when should Atrantil be taken? Still 3x/day? Without food?
Also, no probiotic supplements while on Atrantil? Is there anything else to avoid? I’m on day 2, very uncomfortable swollen, tight stomach, feel like I’m going to burst.
Hi Patti!
Thank you for your questions. Yes, when fasting, we still recommend to take Atrantil 3x per day at times when regular meals would normally be scheduled. In fact, Atrantil is actually great to take when fasting because it works as a prebiotic and nourishes the microbiome even though you are not eating any foods.
For best results, we recommend stopping probiotics and sticking to a low carb diet until you have had relief from your symptoms. Since you are on a KETO diet this is great. It may take up to 30 days to see results when Consistently taking 2 capsules 3 times per day. We have also had customers who have increased to 3 capsules 3xs per day with great results. We hope this helps to answer your questions.
Best wishes,
Support Team
I have been diagnosed with hydrogen sibo , but can I have hydrogen sulfide sibo too
Hi Bernadette,
Thank you for your question. There are really only 3 types of SIBO; methane dominant, hydrogen dominant or mixed (both hydrogen and methane).
Although, hydrogen is used in the makeup of methane, when referring to hydrogen dominant SIBO, it is hydrogen sulfide that is actually being referenced. So hydrogen dominant really is hydrogen sulfide dominant.
We hope this helps to clarify.
Thank you and best wishes,
Team Atrantil
